Volleyball

By the time women’s volleyball became a Big Ten sport in 1985, the Badger team was already a decade old. Volleyball was one of the 12 original women’s sports when the UW launched a women’s varsity athletics program in 1974–75. The team’s first official serve came on September 21, 1974, when the Badgers beat UW–Eau Claire 15–8 and 15–0. The volleyball squad has since won five conference championships (the first in 1990) and twice been national tournament runners-up (in 2000 and 2013). The Badgers play their home games in the Wisconsin Field House.
