When Alumni Park opened on October 6, it was the culmination of many years of work by many different individuals, organizations, and companies who helped to develop the initial vision and then express it in limestone tablets, ceramic panels, bronze sculptures, and lighting elements.

More than meets the eye

It’s been a long road. Just to build the underground loading dock that serves as the park’s foundation, it took:

  • 347 truckloads of concrete
  • 5,187 pounds of Xypex waterproofing agent
  • 372 person-hours of work

30,000 Weight in pounds of the granite fountain in the park’s welcome plaza, with the ripples in the stone symbolizing the widening circles of alumni influence radiating outward to the world

10,000 Gallon capacity of the tank that will capture stormwater runoff from the Red Gym to be used in the park’s irrigation system
