Summer Serenades: Musician Meet & Greet and Picnic in Alumni Park

Summer Serenades is the Wisconsin Union Theater’s free Sunday classical music concert series on the Terrace. Join us in Alumni Park next to the Terrace for a pre-concert meet and greet with Madison’s Isthmus Brass Quintet & Percussion and stay for a picnic during the show! Bring your family to meet the musicians and see their instruments (4–4:30 p.m.). Then spread your blanket on the park’s Lakefront Green to enjoy a lively concert at 5 p.m. full of jazz and popular classics. And don’t forget to pre-order a picnic dinner from Memorial Union Catering. As a special bonus, the first 25 people to pre-order a picnic dinner will receive a free 4’ x 4’ picnic blanket at pick-up. 

Pre-order your picnic dinner hereOrders accepted through 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27th.  Choose between Smoked Turkey & Cheddar Sandwich, Roast Beef with Garlic Aioli & White Cheddar Sandwich or Butternut Squash & Grilled Vegetable Wrap Boxed Dinners- all served with seasonal fruit, chocolate truffle and a bottle of water, with appetizer plates and additional beverages also available to purchase.

Day of carry-out dining options are available throughout Memorial Union, including Strada, Der Rathskeller, the Daily Scoop and the Brat Stand and the BBQ Stand on the Terrace. Please visit the Union’s Find Food & Drink map for locations and hours.

Concerts take place rain or shine and last approximately one hour. In the event of rain, the musician meet and greet will move into the One Alumni Place visitor center.

Drop-in event, no carry-in food or drink allowed. All food must be purchased through Memorial Union — so pre-order a dinner or purchase day-of take-out options at the Union’s restaurants. Blankets are encouraged. No lawn chairs or loungers are permitted in the park. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Event Location:  Musician Meet & Greet and picnic location is Alumni Park, 724 Langdon Street.  Concert is at the Memorial Union Terrace, 800 Langdon Street.
