The largest fire circle at Picnic Point.

Picnic Point/Fire circles

Since the 1800s, Picnic Point has been a popular spot for UW students to hike or have a romantic rendezvous, even though the university didn’t acquire the land until 1941. A 1992 article in the San Francisco Enquirer declared Picnic Point to be “the kissing-est spot in North America.” As of 2016, there are six fire circles along the point. The largest, added in 2012, can seat 80 people. Its style mirrors the Council Ring, built in 1930 near the east wing of Elizabeth Waters Residence Hall.

The art for the Badger Pride Wall was created for WAA by Madison illustrator Nate Koehler.
